In addition to being Chief Executive Officer for Smoking Control Systems, Inc., Rick is President and Senior Seminar Leader of Addiction Management Systems Inc. (AMS), the Toronto based parent company.

  

Since 1988, Rick and his team have conducted smoking control seminars and provided smoking control training programs for smokers at more than 4,000 work sites, from oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico to Canadian Coast Guard vessels in the Arctic. Rick has faced the challenge of training smokers at companies in the tobacco growing areas of Canada and the U.S., where upwards of 60% of employees are smokers.

 

In the past fifteen years, virtually every smoker eligible for the AMS program has opted to request and use it. Weston’s 17 years of experience with work site smoking control/cessation programs, has been featured in articles in Newsweek, the Globe & Mail, The Toronto Star and, he has been interviewed on numerous TV and radio talk shows, including Larry King Live.

 

Weston has made numerous presentations on work site smoking including:

* The Dallas Business Group on Health 

* Minnesota Business For Health Care Market Reform

* The Canadian Institute (Toronto)

* Health Work and Wellness Conference (Whistler, BC)

 

Weston’s business career has been entrepreneurial. He co-founded and was President of three Companies before starting AMS; Metson Research Co. Ltd., a packaging design company that held patents for two-way flexible valves. They were and are used extensively by NASA; Canadian Technical Publications Limited, published The Engineering Times, for 15 years the largest circulation, privately owned newspaper in Canada; and Hybrid Electronics Inc., which funded the design, development and packaging of Trivial Casino, an electronic board game that was licenced to Coleco. It received initial orders for more than 30,000 games, a record for a new product in Canada at the time.

 

Weston attended the University of Houston and served in the United States Marine Corps..
